What IELTS score do you need for Bilkent University?

The IELTS score sheet must be sent directly from the test centre to Bilkent, and TOEFL results directly from ETS. External results must be within their two-year validity at registration, and Bilkent's School of English Language reserves the right to check a result and not accept it.

PhD applicants who use IELTS or the PAE must also meet Turkey's Inter-Universities Board foreign language rule: at least 55 on YDS or an equivalent the Board lists.

Not every Turkish university takes IELTS. Sabancı University's FAQ says IELTS is not accepted in Turkey under a Council of Higher Education (YÖK) decision it describes as binding on all Turkish universities; Koç University's undergraduate pages say the same, and Middle East Technical University stopped accepting IELTS exams taken on or after 24 December 2022. Bilkent's English Language Preparatory Program still lists IELTS Academic 6.5 with 5.5 in every module, so confirm with Bilkent before you book.

International applicants must take IELTS or TOEFL at a centre that verifies identity with test-day photographs, and Bilkent does not accept scores presented directly by students. Students who cannot show the required level attend the English Language Preparatory Program before starting their degree.
