Class 12 English and MOI letters for Indian students

Ravensbourne accepts the Year XII certificate from CBSE, CISCE or state boards with 60% or above in English for undergraduate entry, achieved within four years of enrolment, and 70% or above for postgraduate entry, achieved within seven years of the course start. Both routes exclude the Punjab and Haryana state boards, so Punjab board students need a test.

Postgraduate applicants can instead send a letter from their university confirming that the full bachelor's or master's degree was taught in English. Nepali Grade 12 with a CGPA of 2.8 counts for undergraduate entry.

The in-house test, deposits and the visa

Offer holders with an English condition can take the Ravensbourne English Language Test, run with Oxford ELLT online, at a discounted £108; you need a webcam and a camera that can show a 360-degree view of the room, and you cannot retake it within two months. Ravensbourne holds a Home Office sponsor licence, and the Home Office's own minimum applies alongside these levels.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Ravensbourne programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
