First aid questions with sample answers

1

Do you know any first aid techniques?

Yes, I know a few basic ones. I can clean and bandage small cuts, and I know how to put someone in the recovery position if they faint. Luckily, I haven't had to use anything advanced like CPR yet.

2

Did you learn about first aid at school?

We had a one-off workshop when I was in secondary school. A local paramedic came in and demonstrated how to deal with burns and nosebleeds. It was quite hands-on, though I've probably forgotten half of what we practised.

3

Do you keep a first aid kit in your home?

We do, yes. It's stored in a bathroom cabinet and contains essentials like plasters, antiseptic wipes, bandages, and some pain relief tablets. I usually double-check it every few months to replace anything that's expired.

4

Have you ever had to help someone who was injured?

Only with minor scrapes, really. A couple of years ago, my younger cousin fell off his bicycle in the park and grazed his knee badly. I washed the grit out with bottled water and patched it up with a plaster.

5

Would you like to take a first aid training course in the future?

Definitely. I think it's a vital life skill because you never know when an emergency might happen. I'd love to learn how to properly perform chest compressions and use a defibrillator so I can react calmly in a crisis.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.

Two or three sentences, about 15 to 20 seconds: a direct answer, a reason and one detail. One-word answers cost fluency marks, and long speeches eat into the examiner's time.
