Graduation questions with sample answers

1

Have you ever attended a graduation ceremony?

Yes, I have. I went to my older brother's university graduation a couple of years ago. It was held in a massive cathedral, and although the speeches dragged on a bit, it felt like a really special milestone for the whole family.

2

What do people usually wear to graduation ceremonies in your country?

Well, students generally wear traditional academic gowns and caps over smart clothes like a suit or a nice dress. Guests usually dress up quite smartly too, so you will see lots of people wearing blazers and formal outfits to mark the occasion.

3

Do you think celebrating graduation is important?

Definitely, yes. Completing a degree takes years of hard graft, so it is vital to acknowledge that effort. I think having a proper celebration gives graduates a sense of closure before they move on to the next chapter of their lives.

4

How do people celebrate after the official graduation ceremony?

It varies, but most people organise a meal with close family, or perhaps throw an evening party with their course mates. After my cousin graduated, our family went to a lovely Italian restaurant by the river to toast her success.

5

Would you like to attend another graduation in the future?

I would love to, especially my own if I decide to pursue a master's degree down the line. It would be brilliant to wear the cap and gown myself and celebrate all the hard work alongside my friends.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
