Palaces questions with sample answers

1

Have you ever visited a palace?

Yes, I have, actually. A couple of years ago, I went on holiday to France and toured a massive royal palace just outside Paris. It was absolutely breathtaking, especially walking through the grand hall lined with mirrors and seeing the enormous landscaped gardens.

2

Do you like visiting historic buildings like palaces?

I really do, to be honest. I’m quite keen on history, so I enjoy imagining what life was like for the people who used to live there centuries ago. It’s fascinating to see the intricate architecture and traditional craftsmanship up close.

3

What do you think is the most interesting part of a palace?

For me, it’s probably the grounds and gardens. While the staterooms are lavish, the outdoor areas are usually so well manicured and peaceful. When I visited one recently, I spent hours just wandering around the fountains and tree-lined avenues.

4

Did you learn about royal palaces at school?

A little bit during history lessons, I suppose. We mainly studied the monarchs themselves, but our teacher showed us old paintings and diagrams of medieval castles and royal residences. It definitely brought the lessons to life for us as kids.

5

Would you like to live in a palace in the future?

Not really, no. It sounds glamorous, but I reckon it would feel far too cavernous and cold. I’d much rather live in a cosy modern flat that doesn’t take a team of staff and a fortune to keep warm!

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
