The NMC accepts only IELTS Academic or OET, allows two sittings to be combined within 12 months (all four skills each time, same test), and scores stay valid for two years. Ahpra's rule for tests taken from 23 April 2026 is IELTS Academic 7 overall with 7 in listening, reading and speaking and 6.5 in writing, with a maximum of two sittings within 12 months. Australia's Proficient English (IELTS 7.0 each) adds 10 points and Superior (8.0 each) adds 20, achieved within three years of the visa application. Canada accepts only IELTS General Training for Express Entry, and the result must be under two years old. UK universities usually ask 6.0 to 6.5 for undergraduate and 6.5 to 7.0 for postgraduate study.

Is the British Council IELTS fee different from IDP in the Philippines?+
The test fees are the same. The remark fee differs (₱5,250 at the British Council, ₱6,200 at IDP), and so do the change rules: IDP charges ₱1,000 for one transfer made more than 14 days ahead, while the British Council transfers free 15 or more days ahead.
What IELTS score do nurses need for the UK?+
The NMC requires IELTS Academic 7.0 in listening, reading and speaking and 6.5 in writing, or OET grade B (C+ in writing). Two sittings within 12 months can be combined.
What IELTS score does Ahpra require?+
For tests taken from 23 April 2026: 7.0 overall with 7.0 in listening, reading and speaking and 6.5 in writing, from at most two sittings within 12 months.
Is paper-based IELTS still available in the Philippines?+
Not at the British Council, which moved all its tests to computer from 21 June 2026. IDP's pages still list paper as a format, but IELTS is withdrawing paper tests worldwide from mid-2026; confirm the format when you book.
