PTE in Jamaica — the USD 235 fee, the Kingston test centre and the scores your route needs

Pearson's price finder lists one test centre in Jamaica, the Overseas Examinations Commission at 2A Piccadilly Road, Kingston 5 (checked 11 October 2026). No PTE centre is listed in Montego Bay.

Australia's thresholds are per skill for tests from 7 August 2025: Competent 47 listening, 48 reading, 51 writing, 54 speaking; Proficient 58 / 59 / 69 / 76 for 10 points; Superior 69 / 70 / 85 / 88 for 20. Canada does not accept PTE Academic for Express Entry: PTE Core CLB 7 is listening 60, reading 60, writing 69, speaking 68. UK visas need 59 in each skill for B2.

Jamaica is on the UK government's list of countries whose nationals do not need to prove their English for a Student visa, so you may not need a UK visa English test at all. UK universities can still set their own English requirement, so check the course page. Canada's Express Entry still needs a test, and PTE Core is accepted there; Australian skilled visas also need one.

Canadian universities may not need a test at all from Jamaica: McGill's undergraduate office lists Jamaica among countries where English is the primary language (four consecutive years of school or university there exempt you), and the University of Toronto accepts CSEC English at grade I or II. If you do need a test:

Toronto accepts IELTS Online and UKVI sittings but not One Skill Retake, and wants every score from a single test date. McGill accepts IELTS only when sent electronically by the test centre, and does not accept One Skill Retake. McGill does not accept PTE or IELTS Online for graduate admission.
