What IELTS score do you need for the University of Debrecen?

Programme pages say proficiency must be proven with a standardised certificate at the required level, obtained at a proctored exam. Applicants are exempt if English is their first language or if they completed secondary or higher education in English, in which case they submit a medium-of-instruction certificate. Other educational certificates can also earn an exemption.

The university's South Asia regional office says an IELTS or TOEFL certificate is not compulsory for non-medical programmes: you can also use other certificates, SAT, ACT or GED results, a letter confirming English was your previous language of instruction, or an online interview. That makes an English-medium school or degree from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh usable as proof.

Proof of English is not the whole admission. Computer Science Engineering BSc applicants sit online written and oral entrance exams in Mathematics, and master's applicants have an interview that assesses motivation, personal skills and English. English Studies MA needs an oral entrance exam in English.

Students below the level can take the Intensive Foundation Semester. Those who finish it with an average of 4.0 are guaranteed a place on engineering, IT, natural science or business programmes.
